I am an associate professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University, having migrated there from the Information and Computer Sciences Department at the University of Hawaii in the summer of 2003.

I am in the final year of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, with which I've been exploring the role and value of visualization technology in understanding complex scientific phenomena—in particular, computer algorithms. In addition, I am in the first year of a National Science Foundation CPATH Award, a collaborative effort with colleagues at Auburn University and the University of Hawaii. Within the Visualization and End-User Programming Laboratory, I undertake this and other research related to the broad area of human-computer interaction.
