In this
In-Class Activity, you will prepare for your project group's upcoming usability
test by completing a "Usability Testing Design Document," as recommended
by Douglas in the supplement (pp. 17-19).
The specific learning objectives of this in-class activity are:
Using the example Usability Testing Design Document found on pp. 17-19 of the Douglas Supplement as a guide, create a usability testing design plan for your group projects upcoming usability study. Use this template document as a starting point for developing your design plan.
One of the important subdocuments you will be developing is an exit questionnaire. All project groups are required to tailor the QUIS Questionnaire (available through WebCT only, because of site licensing issues) for their own study. This requires selecting a subset of questions that best address your user experience requirements. If you do not find appropriate questions in the QUIS questionnaire, then feel free to develop your own set. Just make sure that your results can be used to assess your progress toward the user experience requirements you established.
Note:
You must work on this activity with your project group.
Fifteen minutes prior to the end of the period, your instructor will ask you to stop what you are doing and participate in a general discussion of the issues involved in preparing for a usability study. Be prepared to contribute to this discussion with questions, comments, and insights regarding what you did.
In addition, your group is required to hand in your "Uability Testing Design Document" as part of the Usability Study Prep project deliverable.
There is no assignment option associated with this activitiy.
