Example Visualizations

Visualization Systems

Some of these are available free of charge, either as compilable source code or binaries. Others have free examples. Feel free to download and experiment with these for Project #2.

  • ALVIS—Algorithm development and visualization system for novices developed at Washington State University.
  • POLKA—Software and Algorithm Visualization system that includes numerous example visualizations suitable for project #2.
  • SAMBA—A scripting language front-end to POLKA; includes numerous example visualizations suitable for project #2.
  • Lawrence University Algorithm Visualization Server—a web-based version of GAIGS, an algorithm visualization system that yours truly helped develop back in the late 1980s. Numerous example visualizations are suitable for project #2.
  • Open Visualization Data Explorer—Scientific Visualization
  • AVS Visualization—a suite of commercially-available systems for scientific and information visualization. Some sophisicated freely-availabe examples may be suitable for Project #2.
  • Khoros Pro—Scientific visualization; the student version is available free of charge.
  • Geomview—a free 3D visualization system.
