The problems from K and R are from Chapter 5:
P1, P2, P5, P6, P8, P14, P15, P19, and P27
In addition. you should study problems P22, P26, and P31 but you do not need to turn in your answers.
In my printing of the textbook, in problem 5 it says "Consider the 7-bit generator...", but what is given is a 5-bit generator.
For problem 8a you need to dust off those rusty calculus skills. Differentiate the given expression wrt N, and find a value of N that makes the derivative zero. Make sure that you choose a value that maximizes rather than minimizes the the given function.
For problem 14, the assigned MAC addresses can be arbitrary. When it says "the ARP tables are up-to-date" it means that the ARP tables contain entries for all of the hosts on the subnet.
For problems 14 and 15, recall that switches (layer 2) are designated by squares with Xs in them; routers are designated by circles with Xs in them.
For problem 27, it is not clear in my printing of the textbook that the intention is that L = P+5. That is, in any packet of length L there are 5 bytes of header and P bytes of encoded audio.
